The Interface: Mark Fisher and John Berger (Art Monthly, November 2019)

Thought is an interface between the reader and the work where that thought is inscribed. One critic described Berger’s work as ‘escalating and sharpening our dissatisfaction with the poverty of the available’. In a similar way, Fisher not only shows the psychosocial damage wrought by neoliberalism but also takes steps towards reanimating, in Herbert Marcuse’s words, ‘the spectre of a world which could be free’.
